For June we look to the Inuit goddess Sedna.

There are many versions of her story, ranging across multiple continents. However the story is always similar.

You see, she either enrages a husband, or a father. They drag her into a kayak and paddle it out to where the ocean is deep. Throwing her overboard. When she tries to hang on to the edge of the kayak, and her last ounce of safety; they chop off her fingers or she loses them to frostbite.

She becomes disabled by the world around her.

Due to this, she sinks to the bottom of the ocean, because she cannot hold herself to the edge of a kayak to keep herself from drowning.

This is my transformation to goddess, particularly the goddess of the underworld.

Notice how often disability becomes part of the underworld?

No matter how you got your disability, how your monstrosity has attached itself to you; often we feel that the world has taken something from us. A normal life, or whatever we deem as normal. Or the ability to do something that others can do. Maybe that's having children, or a semi-normal dating life, the ability to live by oneself, etc. At some point in our life, we have felt this way about something.

So for this month's prompt, tell me what was it that the world took away from you?
